More than any of the other Vintners Blends, this one over-delivers for its price — and we think you'll agree that that's saying something. Lately a lot of well-made Cabernet has been available on the inter-winery market, but for all the varietal's desirability and prestige, Joel thinks the Cabernet Sauvignon grape has a select range of attractive flavors. He tends towards currants and cassis in putting together this version, which is dark and rich with background notes of black cherry and green pepper. Fine, soft tannins and subtle oak contribute well-balanced roundness, and the finish lingers considerably longer than you might expect. If Cabernet is California's luxury wine, this one is arguably the best bargain going.
